Counting consciousnesses

Andrew Brook started counting up to 50 in a forthcoming research: “Access consciousness, phenomenal consciousness, self-consciousness, creature consciousness, state consciousness, monitoring consciousness, peripheral consciousness, prereflexive consciousness, background consciousness, focal consciousness, peripheral consciousness” here

Let us start counting with him and also look for references. He got to 11 in his tutorial draft.

12. individual consciousness 13. social consciousness 14. collective consciousness 15. public consciousness 14. local consciousness 15. national consciousness 16. ecological consciousness 17. pure consciousness 18. core conciousness 19. primary consciousness…

Some of these expressions are well established such as phenomenal consciousness. Access consciousness has been coined by Ned Block, core consciousness has been used by Antonio Damasio, pure consciousness by Kant.

Is this really enriching science? David Chalmers almost shocked me in Tucson saying something like:”we need more definitions” – how many have we got? And how many more do we need? I hope we can do with just a few. Maybe one is not possible, but a few, much less than there may be around would be nice!
